Joe Makuch has over two decades of IP experience and currently focuses on
helping startup companies build strategic patent portfolios in the electrical,
computer, and material sciences. He is also an adjunct faculty member at
Lewis & Clark Law School where he mentors law students representing clients
at the law school's USPTO certified legal clinic.
Joe is a NASA-trained engineer with seven years of research and development
experience prior to law school. His clients have included industry-
leading companies in wireless technologies, memory systems, software, displays,
and energy management. He was previously managing partner at Marger Johnson
& McCollom where he gained extensive experience litigating patents,
trademarks and copyrights.
Joe is registered at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and is admitted to
the U.S. District Court in Oregon and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the
Federal Circuit.
